City Ballet, under the new direction of Gonzalo Garcia, is one of
the most renowned ballet companies in the United States. Founded in
1985 by Miami philanthropist Toby Lerner Ansin and Founding
Artistic Director and ballet legend Edward Villella, MCB is
considered a leader in the field – nurturing new choreographic
voices, creating innovative collaborations and opening new avenues
of inclusivity within classical ballet. Our repertory of more than
100 ballets, including over a dozen world premieres, was built upon
the Balanchine repertory, style and technique. It has been expanded
to include beloved classical works of importance, as well as
exciting new choreography by contemporary and ground-breaking
artists. The Physical Therapist position is a part-time role
focused on evaluating and treating primarily MCB dancers, with
occasional services for students and staff. This role involves
planning and administering physical therapy treatments to prevent
injuries, restore function, manage pain, and promote the dancers'
overall health and fitness. The Physical Therapist will determine
if a worker's compensation claim needs to be filed and will
communicate with staff regarding this process. They will develop
personalized treatment plans, recommend medical specialists, and
provide exercise techniques to enhance the dancers' health.
Additionally, the Physical Therapist must maintain treatment notes,
communicate with staff about the dancers' injury-related
limitations, perform administration work, and coordinate treatment
plans and diagnoses with physicians. The position will require a
minimum of 40 weeks of work, which will be finalized at the
beginning of the contract period. The Physical Therapist will
report directly to Gonzalo Garcia, Artistic Director; Lily
McCrossin, Lead Physical Therapist; and Lina Aguirre, Human
Resources Director, regarding matters related to the employment
contract. The ideal candidate will possess a warm and collaborative
demeanor, positive energy, and a sense of humor. They should also
be organized, effectively prioritize tasks, and be self-motivated
in their work. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
