Job Description Laboratory Assistant Location: Miramar, FL 33025 Duration: 06 Month Contract (Possibility of extension or conversion) Shift: 6:00 pm – 12:30 am, Tu We Th Fr Sa Pay Rate: $17-18.92$/hour (W2) (Based on experience and education) Job Summary The Laboratory Assistant performs routine laboratory functions in a precise and accurate manner to support laboratory professional staff and ensure efficient workflow and production. This role involves specimen handling, equipment maintenance, quality assurance activities, and adherence to safety and regulatory standards. Key Responsibilities Sort and receive specimens within the department Centrifuge specimens and prepare samples for testing Print and apply specimen labels accurately Record data such as temperature logs and other quality control documentation Store and retrieve specimens according to established protocols Prepare reagents and/or media as required Prepare specimens at designated workstations, including: Building worklists Aliquoting specimens into sample cups Checking specimens for clots and fibrin Performing inoculation and slide preparation Perform routine instrument maintenance on assigned equipment Conduct QA/QC duties as assigned Resolve pending lists and locate missing samples Decontaminate work areas and maintain laboratory cleanliness Perform weekly radioactive wipe tests (as applicable) Maintain department files and records Change gas cylinders when required Follow all PPE requirements and laboratory safety regulations Use laboratory computer systems and operate PCs effectively Dispose of biohazardous materials according to established procedures Complete required training and competency assessments Education Requirements High School Diploma or equivalent required Medical Assistant training preferred Math and science coursework preferred Work Experience No prior experience required Special Requirements / Skills Ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities efficiently Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to retain and apply learned procedures Strong organizational skills Ability to interact professionally and respectfully with coworkers, internal staff, and external customers Basic computer proficiency About Pride Health Pride Health, a division of Pride Global, has been delivering healthcare staffing solutions since 2010.
