Buyer/Purchasing AgentSOL Group is currently seeking an experienced Buyer/Purchasing Agent to join our team in Pompano Beach, Florida (33069).About Us:The SOL Group Marketing Company ("SOL") is part of the Fyffes Group of Companies. Today, with over 17,500 acres of farmland, Sol is proudly the No. 1 offshore melon distributor in North America and the largest grower and importer of winter melons.Job Summary:Primary responsibilities include participating in all aspects of the process for the procurement of materials and assets (from office supplies to packing materials for produce), including supplies requested by Company-owned production farms in Central America. Responsible for monitoring orders workflow and approval process, track the goods that are received according to specifications.Duties and Responsibilities:Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned by management.* Lead the sourcing process, including RFP development.* Meet with key stakeholders to identify purchase requirements (min/max, safety stock, etc.).* Build a purchasing plan. Track variances against budgeted plan.* Determine the best bid among potential suppliers and submit to appropriate approval. Negotiate new and own existing terms of master supply and service agreements.* Review requisition orders to verify accuracy, terminology, and specifications.* Calculate costs of orders and assign to cost centers.* Monitor orders workflow and approval process.* When purchased goods are received, ensure that the goods meet specifications, register the entry of goods in the system as needed.* Monitor open purchase orders to ensure timely and accurate delivery of materials. Contact suppliers promptly when purchase agreements are not met and utilize alternate suppliers to maintain adequate flow of materials if necessary.* Do regular reconciliation of goods received against any agreements, ensure that billing was accurate and according to contractual obligations.* Work with the Accounting department to resolve invoice discrepancies on purchase orders.* Provide thorough rationale and documentation to obtain approval for any deviations with the Capital Appropriation Request (CAR).* Respond to requestors and supplier inquiries about order status, changes, or cancellations.* Review cost change requests from vendors to assure that they are in-line with Master Agreements. Monitor market for any supply disruptions; put mitigation strategies in place as they arise.Education and Experience:* 2-year degree required; Bachelor's degree preferred, in supply chain management, business or related area.* Minimum 3 years of experience in similar positions, ideally in fresh produce processing, food manufacturing, agricultural industry.* Ability to understand contract clauses, price change mechanisms, and market forces to provide outputs into financial planning exercises.* Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.* Fluent Spanish required.* Ability to solve problems, think creatively, work independently, and negotiate effectively.* Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), DocuSign and ERP systems.Skills and Abilities:* Detail oriented, organized, strong ability to manage multiple priorities, adjust to change and meet deadlines.* High self-initiative* Strong project management and time management skills.* Analytical mind with good data manipulation skills.* Highest level of integrity.* Strategic thinking, able to develop plans and adjust them according to business needs.* Highly resilient and adaptable, meeting the ever-changing needs of the industry.* Able to handle pressure and deal constructively with conflict; treats others with respect and embraces diversity in all its forms.* Is comfortable and confident working in a fast-paced environment.Compensation and Benefits:* 401(k)* Medical, Dental and Vision Coverage* Company Paid Life Insurance* Salary commensurate experience.* 15 days of PTO annuallyPlease submit your resume via the 'Apply now' button!We are an Equal Opportunity Employer!
