Job Description Job Description Position Summary The Surgical
Oncologist provides specialized surgical care for patients with
benign and malignant tumors. This role involves evaluating,
diagnosing, and surgically managing oncology patients while
collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to deliver
evidence-based, patient-centered care. The Surgical Oncologist is
also responsible for advancing clinical excellence, mentoring
residents/fellows, and supporting institutional initiatives in
cancer treatment and research. Key Responsibilities Perform complex
surgical procedures to diagnose, stage, and treat cancers and
related conditions. Collaborate with medical oncologists, radiation
oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and other specialists in
developing individualized treatment plans. Evaluate patients
through history-taking, physical examinations, diagnostic testing,
and imaging. Provide perioperative and postoperative care to
optimize patient recovery and outcomes. Participate in
multidisciplinary tumor boards, case reviews, and quality
improvement initiatives. Educate patients and families regarding
diagnosis, treatment options, surgical procedures, risks, and
expected outcomes. Supervise and mentor residents, fellows, and
medical students. Maintain accurate and timely documentation in
accordance with hospital and regulatory standards. Engage in
clinical research, scholarly activity, or quality initiatives to
advance surgical oncology practice. Uphold the highest standards of
patient safety, ethics, and professionalism. Qualifications Doctor
of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree.
Completion of an accredited General Surgery residency. Fellowship
training in Surgical Oncology or equivalent subspecialty training.
Board Certified/Board Eligible in General Surgery and Surgical
Oncology. Valid, unrestricted medical license (or eligibility) in
the state of practice. Current DEA registration. Strong
communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills with ability to
work in a team-based environment. Preferred Skills & Attributes
Experience in minimally invasive and robotic-assisted surgical
techniques. Commitment to evidence-based care and continuous
professional development. Dedication to teaching, mentoring, and
fostering academic growth. Active participation in clinical
research and publication. Working Conditions Hospital-based
surgical practice with outpatient clinic responsibilities.
Participation in on-call rotation as required. Exposure to
surgical, emergency, and inpatient care settings. Must clear
background and drug test required.
